About B.J. Allen

BJ is a Marketing Professor at Brigham Young University, Marriott School of Business. He has taught professional selling, marketing strategy, and new product innovation. At BYU, he currently teaches multiple sales courses and is the faculty director for the BYU Sales Society, which is the Marriott School’s sales program.

 

BJ is the author of the textbooks, “Professional Selling: A Guide for the Modern Sales Professional,” and “Advanced Selling and Sales Management” along with their accompanying simulations, which are used in over 100 Universities worldwide. He specializes in training and consulting for various sales organizations. His trainings and presentations for sales and business development focus on new emerging trends and best practices within the sales industry, sharing knowledge gained from his academic research and the many sales organizations he works with. The goal of his trainings is to leave the audience excited to try something new!

 

BJ’s academic research comprises of both econometric/statistical models as well as consumer behavioral science. His research has been published in leading academic journals such as the Journal of Marketing, Journal of Retailing, Journal of Product Innovation Management, and Journal of Cultural Economics. He serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Product Innovation Management. His academic research awards include being a finalist for the Matthew Joseph Emerging Scholar Award and the Journal of Marketing Best Paper Award. B.J. also received the PDMA (Product Development Management Association) Best Dissertation Award. In 2020, B.J. was awarded the Walton College of Business Outstanding Teacher of the Year. In 2023, he was named a MSI Young Scholar, which was given to the top 30 marketing academics in the world who received their Ph.D. over the previous six years.

 

Aside from business academics, BJ is the author of the Christian book, The Compensating Power of Christ: How Christ’s Atonement Rights the Wrongs of an Unfair World and Imperfect People, published by Covenant Communications. The book discusses Christ’s Atonement in terms of its compensating power, or the ability of the Savior to right the wrongs of life. In a world in which grief, unfairness, and imperfection are hallmarks, Christ’s ability to make recompense is the key to bridging our hopes and our sorrows. In The Compensating Power of Christ, we learn how the Lord compensates in our own day-to-day life.
